Old Tokens & Coins

Well-known member
It's back to being very dry around here. I've been trying to hunt old house lots and areas where the grounds are already rough so I don't make them any worse by digging around. I got permission for a big lot that had 3 houses on it. The houses were torn down years ago so you have to work on getting through all the trash. I've had good luck with old tokens and coins. One of the tokens is for $1.00 off each tire, one is for .50¢ off a $50 purchase at Montgomery Ward furniture & rug store in Nashville and another is a Red Goose shoe token also got an Alabama tax token. The Lucky Hormel Girl token was given out during WWII by Hormel foods. The best find so far is the New York State Excelsior Staff Officers button. I believe it's a post Civil War button though because it has a stamped shank and no backmark. I've wanted to find a NY Civil War button so this one will do for now. HH David
