At the latest old house I found an aluminum token that was kinda stained and needed a good cleaning. Trouble is I need to know the best way to clean aluminum. But I did find out about the token.
R J Weeks had a saloon in Fulton MI (My little town) in 1905 :)
That is also where I found it! :)

to find an oldie in the same town . I have tried several times over the years to clean aluminum with no luck. Someone on the other forums you post on should know. Please let me know if you find something that works. I have a couple aluminum tokens to clean from the distant past, steve in so az

I wouldn't use anything corrosive Mikey. Perhaps nothing more than a cotton swap and a little diluted Dawn dishwashing detergent.

Where did you get your info? My Rulau's only goes to 1900.

...I like finding old tokens. That is pretty old!! Hope all is well with the family and at church!!

a good cleaning to get a good pic. I have a friend that is one of the best known token experts around. When people write books about tokens, many have came to him to check their books before they publish them. Les Smith.

Aluminimum is inherently dirty. It oxidizes on contact with the air. I learned this while welding aluminimum tank trucks. Any alu cleaner like stuff for pots and pans should work but I wouldn't use too much scrubbing. If it's real valuable, I wouldn't clean it at all. Just maybe a soak in olive oil or the like to remove any gunk.
