OLD silver dollars (Price check)

Dalton

New member
Hi....I was wondering if anybody could tell me the price of a couple silver dollars?...OK heres the story...
I attend a church near San Francisco. And about 2 years ago an old lady died and left the church with a bunch of old silver dollars and some other miscellaneous things.
The Pastors Wife of the church was looking at them on-line to see if there are even worth keeping (one has high hopes) But the others we cant tell.
OK this is where I come in..I over heard the Pastor talking to one of the members about the coins and instantly thought about this site...(what other people would know
more about old coins than a bunch of metal detectorist?) anyway...I told the pastor I could try to see if anyone on here could tell me.
once I get the coins I will be sure to post them...(can't take any pictures because I lost my camera :rage:

thanks and HH...

I'm sure there are a million folks here who could tell you but what I would do is go to your local book store like Barnes and Noble and get a coin pricing book. One book will pretty much tell you the price according to its condition for every year of U.S. coin made. Also you could look online and find out real quick. I like to go to Ebay and see how much the coins I find are selling for.

hi dalton, the church can take the silver dollars to a reputable dealer for an estimate of their worth. then again, the church you attend may be better off hanging onto them, as silver prices are projected to go up even higher. or you could elect to buy them yourself from the church[a wise move on your part] the going rate for a typical common date silver dollar is around the 17-18.00 each range. a good resource is the coin collector's red book, available at many bookstores and coin shops. mintmarks and condition are prime things to consider. good luck, and keep us posted.

Even coin mags in the bookstore can give you an idea.. There are a lot of things to consider, date, mint marks, condition or is it worth more for the silver itself. loaded question.

Got some dates?

Here are two places on the internet where you can check the value of coins .
