Managed to get out to an Inn site this morning for a few hours. Have found a few coins there before. Not a lot of trash and any coins found are guaranteed to be old as it ceased trading in 1875. Managed four coins, 1826 shilling, two sixpences 1834 and a no date George 111 and an 1864 halfpenny. Thanks for looking....Ken........:detecting:

Hello Golden. The oldest coin I've found is a chinese cash coin from the late 1600's but I know you've got a few of those. Oldest European coin is an very worn 1770 halfpenny I found in the local showground, you can just read the date as someone has put a hole through it. At the inn site the oldest coin is an 1807 halfpenny. Half this site is under crop so I'll have to wait a while before I can have a good look at it......Ken.

Wow Ken those are great finds! I wonder what mode your using and audio? I sure like the Quattro because it can reach down quite a ways. Ok Ken thanks for the pics and God Bless.

Mate, I always hunt in All Metal with no disc. Can drive you a bit batty when there's a lot of rubbish in the ground but I like it because you really get a feel for what's there. Most of the coins I've found at this site are spread out in one area away from where the building once stood. I've read that horse races were held adjacent so I suppose that's how the coins came to be there. In all metal with no disc then whilst I'm still hearing the rubbish I know I'm still within the area where people were and there's still a chance of finding coins. Once it goes quite then I know I've moved out of the area and my chances of finding coins has dropped. Hope that makes sense. All the best....Ken.
