Old silver and gold ring

New member
Has inscription John Lobbe 84, looks like silver plated pewter with gold insert. I'm assuming 1884 by the pewter and engraving, what do you think? Thanks, Tom.

Nice find! Looks old to me. Too bad it's plated, but still a great find! How deep was it? That might give a better indication of age.

After a closer look and a little polishing, it's Not plated, just doesnt have markings. found in an old park that had some recent improvements that involved some landscaping that bouught it closer to the surface (about 7") also found a couple wheats including 1927 but no silver coins yet.

Did it sound like silver or did it have a lower tone? I guess that would depend on if the silver part or the gold part was facing up, but if it was on it's side then I'm guessing silver sound?
