Hi all,
I got permission to search around this one room
school house earlier this year with my metal
detector. They built a new house south of this
school and unfortunatly it's being torn down <IMG SRC="/forums/images/frown.gif" BORDER=0 ALT="">
so I snapped a few pictures.

Any finds? Where is this old schoolhouse located and when was it built? Has the building been used for anything else since it ceased being a school?
I researched my area in NW Arkansas for "lost" schoolhouses. Many still in existence -- in various conditions -- and used as anything from storage sheds to community buildings to rental homes. Hunting was fun, yet hard and finds minimal.
The school in your pic seems pristine in its solitude. Will you be allowed on site while it is being torn down? I wish you bountiful hunting!

Hi Adria,
I did find a dateless buffalo nickel and several
wheats. I was told that it was searched very
hard by one of the neighbors so I think he got
most of the goodies but it was still fun.
It looked to me like they used it for storage
but it was kept up. I don't know if it's torn
down yet or not but it was just a one time deal.
