Check out the quick mods I did to the stock rod while I wait for my custom one to arrive from Plugger. The first and most important thing was to move the box as far back under the elbow as I could so I drilled out the only one stock V-clip I had and did just that. Then I filled the holes in the top of the rod with a couple of screws to neaten it up and used one of the lower holes to route the switch wire through the rod and out the back of the rod through the end cap. Once that was out of the way, i wanted to install a remote all-metal/disc switch. I picked up a couple of 1/8" jacks and mono plugs and dug out some old speaker wire I had laying around and got to work. I wanted to mount up the switch quickly so i decided on using the lowest hole in the meter bracket. I just lifted my meter higher on the bracket, added an extra hole in the back of the meter and replaced the smaller screws in the back of the meter with larger ones for better stability. I will probably do a more permanent switch mount in the rod either under the bend in front of the grip (trigger finger) or on top of the bend (thumb). Check out the condition of the CoinSearch coil! It's like brand new! The weird thing is I think I may have owned this coil before because the serial number is 103 and I could swear that number rings a bell! Would't that be something if she came back to find me years later? LOL. Anyway, I got out in my yard with this set up and was really impressed with the ole' XS. Mine has the Dixie Mods done to it and it's HOT. I pulled a couple of deep wheats that had several nails in the hole with them! It was like using an analog Etrac! Ron's meter is really rock solid and accurate. Mine needed a quick adjustment when I received it as coins were reading a couple of numbers higher than usual but it was a breeze to calibrate and I haven't had to touch it again. Can't wait to get out tomorrow and debut the 13" Ultimate. By the way, I was able to run max sens with the CoinSearch with no falsing! HH George Fatizzi
