Got out for a little bit yesterday in my own backyard. I live in a large old building from about the turn of the century, maybe a little older. There are a lot of old nails and other junk in this small 20' by 100' area and all I've been able to find is modern clad and a couple of wheats and buttons. Well I just KNEW judging by the dates of some of the wheats I was digging that sooner or later silver would surface! Finally, my first silver of the season came to light: a 1920 Merc. Not that long after, dug the 1905 IH (by the way, strong 176 on Ron's meter, don't pass the deeper sounding signals for a lousy zincoln!) and then these two interesting items: a jade? pin of some sort set in sterling silver with tiny diamond chips (I think) and what I believe to be a girl's school pin because it says "only girls" along the top. The wife was impressed with the jade pin and wants me to see about having a ring made for her to set it in. LOL. We'll see if it's real and worth it first. I have a jeweler that's right across the street who can check it out for me. All of these finds were at least 7" or deeper because they were past the full length of my Lesche shovel blade. Pretty cool finds and I was elated. I went over the exact same ground with an Xterra 50 and Etrac. I guess I just know the Sov's language the best. The CoinSearch coil is proving to be a KILLER in this ground and the perfect combo of both depth and trash separation I have ever seen. I am VERY pleased with the depth I'm getting with this 7 1/4" coil! It's always been my favorite for a reason and as long as I own this Sov, it's staying with me. I do have a 12X10 SEF on order too for beach and larger open area sweeping and I think between those two coils, I will be all set. Finally received my custom rod from Plugger on Monday and got everything mounted up nice on it with a remote all metal/disc pushbutton switch installed on top of the handle that is making hunting a breeze and very enjoyable again. I want to personally thank everyone involved who helped my put this old dinasaur combo together and hunt out the necessary parts needed to make it work as new again. HH all! George
