Old school house site?

siz

New member
Where I live there is a road that's dedicated to the school house that wa built on it. Although it's been years since it was torn down there is a sign stating the memorial site of the building. What do you guys think about going to it today and trying to see if I find something? Just to give you an idea of the weather it snowed over the weekend but is quickly melting away. So any ideas as to how I should go about this?

Do a small area at a time and work it slowly keeping the coil level with ground.Swing the coil slowly Too fast loses a lot of targets HH Wayne in Delaware

Thanks Wayne, the help is greatly appreciated

If there's large standing oak trees around the site would be a great place to hunt around.

Ok, sort of the idea that kids would play/hang around them? Any other areas of interest I should look out for

When you first start, dig EVERY solid signal...Do this until you get a good idea of what is in the ground there...

HH,

Sadly when I went there today I soon realized that the corner the memorial sign was on, that i thought was the entrance and it went back farther was just that, an area on the corner of a main road with a sign. I guess the school was right there since it was built in 1820. I may try to go there at dawn's break on the weekend when it will hopefully be the least busy. I've always felt weird when I metal detect with either cars driving by regularly or people around me. Anyone else get that feeling?

I use to get that when I first started now I block them out and focus on the signals, who cares what other people think just fill in the holes and. Be professional, enjoy your new hobby!

Hmm thats a good bit of advice, thank you Hank68 i'll try to keep that in mind.
