Old School foundation in woods- tips needed

New member
I've found an old foundation in the woods and have determined that it is an old school. The woods and brush have grown up around it. I'd appreciate any tips you old pros have on how to process this site with the AT Pro.
Thanks, mac

Don't think there's anything most of us could say.
If it were me I'd wack away some of that brush if you have the time, other wise, just throw yourself into
detecting. If you have the AT Pro I'd be surprised if you had any problems. Just don't be in a hurry and
listen to everything and dig everything. If it's an OLD OLD school, youor not likely to have all those pull
tabs. Good luck and be sureto post your finds.

id go through with the 5x8 coin first and do a sweep of the area to try and remove all of the surface trash/targets. then after things sizzled out with the 5x8, i would go over the area with 8.5x11 and look for any deep targets that the 5x8 missed

This school showed up on a 1949 USGS map so is not an old, old school but old enough to yield some silver and buffalos. I managed to spend about 10 minutes there today with my only coil, the 8x11, and looked in the easily accessible areas. I came up empty. I did do a little digging and found alot of small stone which leads me to believe that the area I was searching in may have been a packed gravel parking lot and that's why there's no brush on it.
I'm thinking that the 5x8 coil may help as Nick suggests because it's hard to swing the 8x11. Are there any other advantages to the 5x8?

there really isnt much depth loss from the 8.5x11 to the 5x8. the target separation is phenomonal. after swinging the 8.5x11, the 5x8 feels like a feather in comparison and can be swung all day
