Hello all., I went out today on my lunch break to an old school house that I have found some late 1800's coins from. and also found rosies up to 1950. lol SO today I dug this unusual ring and was wondering if anyone may have any info on it. At first I thought it had a stone that was missing but looking closer that hole is on a pretty thick part of the ring and there is no fascets to hold a stone. the hole is about 1/16" in dia. has a slight bevel at the top and bottom side where it comes through the ring. Anyone have any info on this I would really appreciate it! it has a sun on the front where the whole is, rain on one side and flowers or plants growing up on the other side. it is probabbly worth noting it is solid and not stamped like a lot of the older kids rings.

I kinka think it is a sun dial. Strange for a ring but thats my guess. It would have had a, well I have no idea what they're called but a pole or mast to cast a shadow onto the marks on the top of the ring.

My second guess is that it had a dial that pivoted out from the hole and you(originally a child) manually turned the dial from rain to shine so you knew the weather. lol
