Hello Folks
I was out the detecting with CTTodd about a month ago or so and found a nice copper culture artifact.
They're hard to date exactly but the range that has been suggested so far by the archaeologist and knowledgeable copper culture folks has been 7,000 to about 3000 years old.
There isn't a whole lot of these types of artifacts found in New York state. I have been fortunate enough to find two.
It's exciting to find something that has been in the ground that long. If only I could tell it's story. what most likely happened with an artifact like this is that it had been traded from further west where there are natural copper deposits. Another possibility is that it was traded from much further north where there's also natural copper.
