Old MXT's same as new ones??

David

New member
Are the very first MXT's that came out in about 2002(I think?) the exact same in everyway(upgrades?) as the newest ones available new today in 2009??

(Yes I know about the new MXT-300 has a 12" coil and I also know the electronic guts inside are the same as a regular new MXT.)

Why? Because I am looking to buy a second-hand MXT and I would like to know this information before I shop, thanks to all!

They are all the same to this point in time. No upgrades if you don't the powder coat finish . Rob

I've had my MXT since they first came out and it's the same as the new ones except for the powder coating. I had mine in the shop last winter to see if it needed any repairs, etc. Basically for a physical. All it needed was a new earphone plug. It was still usable, but loose. NICE! They replaced it and at a minimal fee. VERY NICE! Good luck and HH, Nancy

Friend:
I bought mine used from a guy over a year ago for $300 and
have had no trouble. It's a good machine. I'd recommend you
turn it on and go. If he doiesn't have batteries, bring some
along and test it out before you buy it. The chances are though
it's ok. Whites puts out a tough product.

How much are your paying for it, if I may ask?

Katz

My MXT shows version 1.0 software at startup, does anybodies show different? Just thought they might have a updated software version.

Paul

As I answered Dave, there is only the one version. Rob

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE REPLIES!!! They are all appreciated!! Now I know all MXT's are the same electronically, except for the paint job on some!

Yes thanks for the tips Katz. I have not got one lined up yet so I do not know what I am paying yet. You sure got a good deal though !!

I know when I get one I want to get a 15"x12" SEF coil for it. And either the 4"x6" or 5.3" Eclipse also.

I like the looks of that SunRay probe pinpointer too.

If you decide on the Sun Ray DX-1 probe, you won't be sorry. It's money well spent. It's almost to the point where I can't hunt without it. Even if I'm in the tot lots. But for deep coins and valuable ones, you will LOVE it. You won't be guessing where it is in your hole or plug. It will tell you where the coin is and hopefully you won't scratch it.

Hmm, wonder how many I've sold for Ray. It's a keeper in my book. Wouldn't be without it!

HH, Nancy
