Old Model J.W. Fisher Pulse 8

Hello,

I recently purchased an old model pulse 8 on ebay for 256 dollars. I knew it was old but thought it might still be a good deal. Its the old round model from the early 90's and I called the company about it. I was wondering if anybody knows what the main differences are between the modern pulse 8 and these old ones? The man at the company said the coils are not interchangeable on the old ones and I think the connecters are hard wired and not replaceable too. I'm just wondering if the technology has changed a lot since then?
