Nice photo of a very interesting part of North American history Kelley. These old Spanish missions really are a symbol of the American West. HH
 
Actually, they are a symbol of the Spanish Far North. Even with 300 years of occupation of Nueva Espana, they never succeeded in taming the northern Frontier. Mexican independence and the resulting neglect ended the missions. The Alamo was an abandoned ruin long before the battle.
 
One of the missions is the Alamo, which is a famous landmark known all across the country. Kelley (Texas) :)
