Old Matchbox Cars..........

Kelley (Texas)

New member
Bored, can't get out into the field to take some pictures because of the wet miserable weather. Decided to play with my Sony NEX-6 camera and my vintage Minolta MD Macro 50mm F3.5 lens, and take a few close-up pictures of a few old Matchbox cars from the 1970's. I did not use the extension tubes when I took these pictures. I used a gold colored candy box as a background. All pictures were taken in Manual Mode, F8, manual focus, lighting was not the best due to cloudy, occasional misty rain. Kelley (Texas) :)

Back in the late 1970's, I was training a horse for a man that had an open box full of these old Matchbox Cars sitting on the seat of his pickup truck. He gave them to me for twenty-five dollars credit towards the cost of training his horse. I have had them all these years and never really gave any attention to them until yesterday when I was out in the garage looking for items to photograph. Most of them are in individual boxes, and they appear to have been made in England. My Grandson will be spending the weekend with us and I will probably give them to him. Kelley (Texas) :)

If this is same as you posted.
Cement Mixer 3 9/16 inches 1948
" Green and red bodies with different color wheels and handles. All same value " $150-200

the cement mixer truck that I have is the same one that is worth $150-$200 dollars, I will check later tonight. I think that the one that I have was made in the early 1970's. I never figured that these little cars could be worth so much. The good thing about the ones that I have are that they are in the original little boxes. Checking the cars should keep me busy and out of mischief for a few hours. Again, thank you! Kelley (Texas) :)
