Old Knife

POLEWAGGER

New member
Did some midnight hunting last night on an old trail that showed up on my 1936 aerial photos.
The trail was used to reach military radio shacks on the mountain.
Found this knife with an eagle head on the butt.
Is there anyone who knows if this is a kids toy or a real military relic?
The handle seems too small for an adult knife.
Looks too well made for a kids, but maybe an Eagle Scout knife?

Hi Polewagger, It looks just like a style I have seen that typically comes from Mexico. Maybe I am only imagining it but it seems the small handle you mention does seem to have been noticed on accasion. I know in the Mexican Border town shops that style knife was common last time I was in one back in the 50's.HH, Charlie

I remember that handle and others that were similar on the market quite few years ago. They were advertised with a lot of hype, but offered at cheapy prices. The only one I actually laid hands on looked good, but was very light in weight and I doubt it was very heavy duty.
