Old housing site hunt. :garrett:

Headed out early this morning and was swinging away at 6:30. I went to a spot I hadn't been to for a while, an old Navy Military housing site that had been demolished when the Military went through a down sizing back in the 80's. The site was then donated to the city it was located in and they in turn turned it into a city park. Over the years the spot has been hunted hard and yours truly spent literally hundreds of hours on it from 06 through 08. It is the trashiest location I have ever hunted. The 3rd picture shows the screw cap of the brew of choice for the Navy guys. And they drank a bunch of it.

Along about 7:45 I got a scratchy high tone signal showing 4." Thought it might be another bottle cap. Found the target in the dirt clod and spotted the glint of gold. Yup, a 10K 1986 class ring from a high school in a small town up the road a piece and has the name Steve on it. Thinking that should be a pretty easy return.

Was ending the hunt near 11 and working my way back to my vehicle when I got a bouncy 81-84 high tone hit. Dug, flipped over the clod and spotted a silver dime. A 1946 Rosie. Ended the hunt with 7 wheat cents, the oldest a 1927, a few pieces of clad and Memorial cents and a pouch pocket full of trash.

Hope you all are swinging good this weekend. HH jim tn

Congrats on a great hunt Jim!!

Way to go jim! I`m sure if this guy is still around he will be happy to get his ring back.

Nice going on the ring.

Luckily it bounced into the high tone some, because I know that you were not digging the gold range at that trashy site.

Yeah! Big ring bounced high for you! :clapping: Thats a one in a million there, considering the signal had no business being dug! Great work!

Awesome job Jim..Steve should be a very happy Man.........

Congrats on a great hunt! Seems like, once you get enough hours on the detector, you develop a sixth sense that helps you sniff out targets that want digging, even when it isn't an obvious 'good' signal.
Hope you can connect with the ring's owner.

Unless the fellow has moved and the school doesn't have his current address/location, seems like a near slam dunk getting it returned. It has his initials inside the band. Yeah, time is of the essence, right? Thanks, HH jim tn
