after much anxt , as to which detector to take , I decided on the Silver Micromax with the new 8x11" DD having the ground balance mode makes a difference in depth , I had the gain set at 9 and was in the all metal with the disc set at Iron and started pulling zincs and copper pennys and one dime out from the 1st three inches and some foil and a few tabs and bolts and a spark pug I then got a deeper sounding signal and the TRX pinpoiter would not beep on it so i dug a wide plug just in case it was a coin and down at about 5" up comes what looked like a nickel, but with a buffalos on the back . and i have to say it was in good condition not badly corroded at all 1936 hight of the dust bowl in its day it would have bought half a loaf of bread i think its in fine condition Got to be more i only covered a small spot and the new coil proved itself , i was worried it would not do well in a more target rich earea

Your soil is very kind to that Buffalo. Good full date on the coin too! Congrats on a beautiful coin. Keep hitting this place and get ready for it to cough up more goodies. Good job bro I am proud of you

Gunnar, thats a very nice coin that you have found,is that what they call a buffalo head coin or what ever its called ??? its in lovely condition, not sure if its a rare find or not ??

Nice find!
Think that Silver was meant just for you...............

thanks Jimmy , it would be nice to see the dime master picking this lot , as you have done very well in trash spots. Mega, compared to what you could find in the U,K , its modern clad , but nice as it has some history, you know the white man wiped out the buffalos in the 1870,s and 80,s so as to starve the Indian to death, and had almost completely wiped out the buffalos , so its kind of an remembrance to the indian tribes who needed the animal for food and clothes, but custer got his but kicked good and i think it was du as payback for such reckless destruction . but now days the buffalos is making a comeback and they even sell Bison burgers now and Sven your GB mode on the silver has made it into a very nice machine and i have to say I like the silver umax. sure i want to get a deep seeker someday but for most hunting its really doing nice for me .

Very nice buffalo! Very sharp date!! Most of the buffalo nickles I've dug have no date to be found.

Thanks bro for remembering when I was "dime master" lol - I forgot all about that. I am by default a slow hunter and enjoy going very slow in trash areas. I believe that is why I find things other miss. I am not in a rush to get nowhere. Whether it be an AT Pro or a Sov GT I still swing slow and make some very nice finds. You can do the same. I don't know how slow / fast your swinging but when I get into heavy trash I just kinda crawl through and let the audio do the talkin'. Keep at it bromaster and this place will continue to reward you. Maybe next time with a nice silver coin or a coin spill :)

hay andy, if you can find a 1930,s site maybe you can find a buffalos nickel this layer i am in is from the mid to late 30,s to the 40,s I know we want really old sites but even a 50s spot can hold coins 40 years old - Jim I was going slow i don't think i covered 5 sq ft and i have found swinging fast in iron is not good short and slow and change angles-----TVR I know most buffalos nickels have the date off. thats what is cool about finding them with a detector , they may have been lost within a few years of the date and then you really have something .

Thats really a good looking buff there Gunnar! Very beautiful patina and crisp..Nice:clapping:
