Old Home site locket

New member
Been hitting my first old home site. Pulled some coins dating back to 1893 thru 1920.
Went back this morning and found this.
It rang up a 64 on my Goldbug DP. I usually don't associate that number with great finds.
It is in two separate pieces. Small tabs fold over the back and hold it into place.
No distinguishing marks or lettering found, yet. It's very light.

Nice find!
Thanks for posting,

It certainly could hold a photo. Whatever was there is long gone. What I find interesting, is that it is two separate pieces all the way up to the loop. Soft metal, kin of like tin, maybe.
3 metal tabs that fold over the back to close.
I don't think it is any kind of precious metal. It just seems too intricate to be a cheap repro.
It resembles a pocket watch in that it has a fake winding knob at the top.
I have thought about opening it up, but afraid I will break off the tabs.

Thanks for looking.

Tony

My first thought was a watch or watch case. Of course its probably not thick enough. I probably couldn't resist trying to open it , myself. Good find. CO
