Old home site finds today..

I went back to an old home site that I have been searching lately and had a fantastic day.
I found 7 sharps bullets and 2 .44 cal. bullets and also scored a very nice silver ring.
I also got some other items.. some I can identify and some I could use some help on..
The barrel plug looking item is made of lead.. any ideas?
The other item on the right side of one of the photos has a patent date of Oct. 27, 85. It has a small oval hole in the middle of it.. any ideas?
Other items include a thimble, a bullet casing, part of an umbrella, a copper rivot, and a harmonica reed plate.
Thanks for looking and any help on ID,
Felix

Good saves! The object you asked about came off a carpet bag. I find them in campsites alot.

I'm assuming you are referring to the item with the small hole in the middle of it.
Am I right?
It looks like a key could be inserted into it to lock the item up.
It kind of looked familiar... just couldn't make the connection.
Any ideas about the ( plug )?
Thanks for the help,
Felix

I took my Vaquero for a spin around the old home site after work and got a few more saves.. no bullets this time, but did score a nice IH cent dated 1883.
I couldn't believe the condition of this coins since it has been underwater for well over a hundred years!!
Surprisingly, it wasn't very deep either.
I also got a nice suspender clip, another thimble, a cartridge, an old ring, and a stirrup that is soaking in some water waiting for electrolosys.
Also found a pile of shotgun shell bases.. man do they sound good LOL!!!
Looks like there are still a few goodies left in there yet.. maybe another bullet or two.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

That IH is in very great shape. WTG Can't wait to see more from that site............:super::super::hot:

I think theres nothing better than digging bullets. You have a hand full of dirt and feel that weight of the bullet hit the palm of your hand. Gives me goose bumps. Awesome finds.
