HI,
I am trying to hunt a highschool that was closed in the seventies after forty years. The bleachers are metal and over grass and dirt. It seems the coins there are most all silver and buried six to eight inches in red clay. The Metal bracings are really messing up my hunting. Any one help me on this one? I need settings and technics. I reall appreciate all the help.
Thank you

I have no help with explorer settings to solve your problem but...
First get the smallest coil you can which will allow you to get closer to the metal object.
Also try and old Garrett, not sure of new ones.. You could detune the detector and get pretty close to metal posts and fences.
Can't wait to hear if there are any other suggestions.

Definitely a small coil is the way to go. If the X-5 for the Explorer is too big, you may have to go to a different machine. I have a little 3.5 for my old Spectrum that's pretty deadly. If you try the Stealth, remember to back the sensitivity down. I was running my Explorer with the stock coil a couple of days ago in an old park here. Some of the trees are wrapped in wire mesh to keep the beaver from dropping them. The mesh starts about 6-8" off the ground. I was picking the darned stuff up about three feet away from the tree... this machine is REAL sensitive.
