Old gold today!

See this big blowout? See all that iron exposed? This place is a real trashy spot I like to hunt...one tough mess of nails and cable and old things..I've found mercs, and a v nickle here once, and a lot of silver rings, medallions, one other little gold ring last year. I know this place has either never been hunted, or is too dang loud to tolerate for long...it seems to always give up something though..if a guy can hit the right spots before their ears give out.
Got this 14k 4.3g ring! Its inscribed with initials and 11/23/18 so it is the oldest gold I have found that had a date on it....thats it on my wifes hand, yep, robbed again!...y'all know how it is...:sadwalk::rofl:

Congrats on the ring Mudpuppy. I know gold comes in at various junk signals and was wondering how you were able to dig so few pull tabs? Those are the kind of spots I like, most people don't want to deal with all the trash.

Yeah, Kansa...those tabs represent maybe a 10th of the ones I got, also all sorts of melted aluminum, parts of lead, I go after generally all signals especially the scratchy ones which could be a chain, or a masked spill..today was easy, most everything was right on the surface or just below...big iron was visible...

Man I love those solid Gold Bands, and the date on it makes it a keeper for sure, Nice catch!!

WTG Mud. Glad you got out and found something good. Be glad when Garrett calls about my At/Pro next week. HH.

Heck of a nice cut in that sand. Terrific ring find.

Do you collect the copper wire you find? Get too much of it and you better document copper wire as detecting finds or the govvies will come after you for stripping wire from light poles!

Last time I took a catalytic convert up to the metal man, I also took a bucket of lead and a box of copper wire; they asked me where I got the wire.
Cheers,

I can relate. My wife has claimed all my good finds. She would have drooled over this one because of its age (she loves the old stuff). Great find. Looks like a fun spot.

Nice work Mud, it looks like that bank has too much iron for most hunters and that's just perfect. There's a lot more gold and old coins hiding in the trash, and the beach belongs to you.

Very nice work and reward, Mud. It may help to consider the ring an investment in good will and domestic tranquility. My recent finds being silver I am getting a bit thin in that area! :(
Tom

Aint that something Tom? My Wife has gotten more gold/silver jewelry out of me in the last 4 yrs since I took up this sport, than in all the previous 35yrs combined!...What a Frankenstein monster these detectors are! Oh sure, she scarfs up the nice silver, but it seems as if a guy dont bring home gold on a daily basis, she thinks I'm slacking? Oh well, it drives us onward to legendary greatness I suppose, if it was just up to me, I'd be sniping clad and living under a bridge...completely content of course, but without a decent looking dance partner!!..
Mud.

Hi there Mud, I wrote you yesterday but my battery died as I pressed send! Congratulations on that beautiful gold ring. My girlfriend always gets first choice on the rings she likes, I guess you could says its a kind of a wife/girlfriend tax!

Nice find mate, catch you soon, Merlin
