Old Gas Station gives up silver!!

My second place I hunted today was an old gas station in the 40s to the 60s and then was converted into a duplex and now is abandoned.I really wasn't very excited about tecting this spot, it just didn't look good, but I'm glad I did because other the silver and wheats I found my first war nickle. You can sure tell that war nickles have silver in them because the way it looks in the picture is the way it came out of the ground.
Another funny thing was the 64 rosie and the 41 wheat were the deepest, close to 6 inchs. All the rest were at 4-5 inchs.
5 wheats, 2 silvers, a war nickle,and a decent amount of clad.

Fun day thanks to my cheapo Walmart Pioneer 505.:bouncy:

Another thing I need to mention is I actually had 3 places to hunt yesterday.I drove about 45 minutes to an old church that has been around since 1875.A friend told me the land was still owned by an individual and should ask him for permission.
I was excited about this spot.
Well the land owner wasn't to happy when I said I wanted to metaldetect, and took me over and showed me the church yard.
I guess 3 other guys went through the yard without asking and this was during the dry spell we had a few weeks back.
We counted probably 30 plugs where the grass had turned yellow, and one of the plugs had been layed on the sidewalk in front of the church.
YOU JUST CAN'T CUT SHALLOW PLUGS IN HOT DRY WEATHER.And if your dirt crumbles even with a deep plug ,back out and come back some other time.
Any way thanks to those bums I didn't get to hunt there.
The second spot of the day yielded a bag of trash only,so the gas station saved my day.

Nice finds, merc's are my favorite
