Old find that I'm sure you can ID

I found this bullet in my front yard in southern AZ many years ago and then lost it again in boxes until now, 12 years later. It's heavy and pretty small. There are no marks besides what looks like a backward "S". The house I lived in then was built in the 30s, but before that I am guessing it was all ranch land. Anyone know how old? I've had it for so long and have always wondered about it. Wish I knew more about bullets.
