Old farm site hunt this evening...

Bavaria Mike

New member
I had about one hour to detect this evening close to home so I went to my favorite field where an old farm/hotel once stood until the mid 1600s. I have hunted this area and surrounding fields hard over the years but they always give up something. Here is the field, in the middle you can see a dried area in the planted winter wheat field. Note there are higher areas around it and it should be the wettest area but it is dry because this is where the main house once stood, four large barns once stood to the left of this house and it is still obvious today. This is the area I detected, I have permission to detect the fields even when cropped here.

I found a small hand full of trash, an underwear button, a piece of a button with a partial shank and this buckle looking thing, not sure what it is. Looks to be very old maybe dating to the original farm, medieval or post medieval or could be newer, I really do not know. The reverse has no markings and this side was surely meant to be the exposed obverse. The left and right links were bound together with small rivets possibly clasping a thin leather strap on each side.

Close up of the ring, has uneven hash marks on it that look to be hand made. It was hard to get a good picture of this.

Left side.

Right side. Any ideas are welcome in identifying this relic. HH, Mike
