I am pretty much an avid lurker here and love reading all of the advise from seasoned individuals. I have a vacation planned in the near future where I have access to a few old farm sites where the rock foundations are visible. Years ago I spent a few hours hunting one but the amount of trash overwhelmed me. I hunt a lot of trashy parks but this was unreal.
Being a proud owner of the CTX and a good solid week to detect I was hoping to get advise from those that have experience with being successful at these type of sites. I only have the stock coil so was thinking about spending an entire day cleaning up as much of the trash, iron, etc. as possible to hopefully get to whatever good finds should exist. Two of the sites are at least as old as 1879 and were occupied for at least 80 years and are on family property, most definitely haven't been detected before other than my failed attempt. Other than the old stone foundations there are no other structures, except for one site has a well that has been covered with a concrete slab.
I may be able to get access to a 8x6 SEF for my Etrac but would like to get advise on what to do with my CTX in case that doesn't happen. Any advise is appreciated!
