After work went driving thru the country looking for a cut field...spotted a small grassy lot with a windmill, handpump, and 3 trees, an obvious old homesite, the corn field around it was all cut so I stopped at a close house and they were the owners and gave me permission to detect the area.
First signal was by the old hand pump, was a mixed jumpy signal 25-47 one way and 01-44 the other way, but it sounded real sweet. Etrac showed 6-7" deep, cut the plug, pulled out two nails, then saw a silver dime. It was a rosie....then re-swept the hole...another high tone, out comes a real worn merc...1919, then re-swept the hole and yet another signal..a 1944 merc....nice 3 silver dime spill!
beside a big tree I got the pocket watch cover, and the decorative face item....wandered into the cornfield a bit and got another 3 coin spill, these however are fused together, it is a penny and 2 nickels. The top penny is 1955 I think, the middle nickel I can see the date of 1947 and the back one I can't see..I think they were in a fire. Also got the 1955 dog tag...nothing super old, but a fun hunt. I will go back and see if I can find anything else.
