Old Eldorado is awesome.

Hey all, I posted recently about an old metal box style Eldorado that my brother bought for 75 bucks. He decided to try it out in his yard thats been pounded by tons of machines. Fisher cz70, Minelab Explorer 2, CZ3D, At Pro, Garrett 2500..etc...and there were no more nonferrous signals. With the Eldorado in the past few days hes probably dug 30 non ferrous targets out of that yard. Even a big old token at about 7inches deep that had nails in the hole with it. Brass grommets, shotgun shells, etc. Im impressed and take Tesoro detectors even more seriously now.

My very first metal detector was an original Tesoro Eldorado which I still have and it can still find some goodies! I certainly understand what hunters mean when they say a site is "hunted out" but a lot of times I think the question is.... was this ground covered at this particular angle in relation to possible nearby trash signals?....it can make a difference at times. There is no doubt that the later units surpass the older ones of all brands but that don't mean the older units don't still work under the right conditions.
In the past I remember using a Troy Shadow X2 9" spider coil on my original Eldorado and was getting good depth at that time here in my mild ground conditions. Those older metal box Tesoro's remind me in a way of the older build quality of the classic cars in the past. Enjoy and Good hunting!
