Andy and myself met up today for some dirt mining, looking for that big cache!..........We did find a small cache of coins in a farmers field, they were scattered around in an area that measured about 30'x30'. I have posted a picture of Andy's finds......................4 large cents, 1 half reale, 1 Indian head penny and 1 wheat penny. Andy also found an 1809 half reale a couple of days ago at this same field but in a different location (no photo)...My take was 6 large cents, 1 V nickel 1900, 1 1883 IH and 1 half reale 177?.
The coins we found are worn pretty bad and the dates are hard to read at the present time..Surprisingly there was only a very small amount of other metal items found in the area of the coins. Some of the large cents look to be in the 1700s from the little bit of detail on them. Anyway, it was a blast to find so many old coins at one time..
The photos are not great, I didn't do individual shots because of the condition of the coins.......thanks for looking.
