Old coins found in a cave

Hey Everyone,
A co-worker of mine brought in some coins and buttons today to show me that were found in a warehouse some time ago by his father and given to him.
He said they were in a leather pouch along with a colt ball and cap revolver in a shoebox along with a letter stating when and where they were found.
The coins were found in a cave somewhere in California in 1953 and were in the leather pouch in a crevice.
The revolver was not found in the cave and he didn't say if he knew where that came from.
The coins are as follows:
1871 Seated Liberty half dollar
1867 3 cent "nickel"
1865 2 cent piece
1856 Large cent
The buttons are:
Oregon state button.. (Hope someone can give me more info on this)
Great seal button
I think the Oregon button dates back to the 1870's, but I don't know how old the Great seal button is or how long the design has been around.
I would appreciate any help on details on these buttons.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

The founder Mitchell C. Lilley was born in 1819 in Columbus Ohio and died in 1882. Served in the Mexican War (1847-184:geek: and the Civil War (1861-1862). He was a bookbinder and publisher and published Masonic and Odd Fellows books. In 1865 started the M. C. LILLEY & CO which produced regalia and swords. This included society swords, US regulation swords (Model 1872 cavalry officers swords), and theatrical swords. Upon his death in 1882, the name was changed to THE M. C. LILLEY & CO and his long time partner Charles H. Lindenburg became president.
