I decided to go to our park today to try and find more nickels and old coins as I had done in the past. I went early to beat the heat. I went to the area where I found the Seated Liberty Quarter the last time and I was not disappointed. Within the first 5 minutes I got a bouncy signal from the Etrac that was between 12-35 & 12-46. at about 6 inches. The signal was weak because the ground was dry as a bone. The first coin out of the ground was an 1887 Indian Head Cent, as I was looking at the coin I spotted another coin in the hole, a 1892 Barber Quarter. How I was excited. Took the probe and stuck it in the hole and received another signal. I dug out some more dirt and saw silver and copper in the removed dirt. I pulled out 2 more Barber Dimes, 1912--D & a 1906. I started to get up and do a Chicken Dance, but decided to wait until all the coins were removed from the hole. The last coin was a 1898 Indian Head cent. Now that is the way to start off a hunt.
I did find 3 Quarters, 3 Dimes & 9 Memorial Cents to round off the day, plus a COACH Tag with the small chain attached. When I found this I thought, "What a big piece of Gold, but soon decided it was Bronze. Oh Yeah, I did find a 1980-D Nickel, SO, Mission Accomplished. HH...Jesse.
