old coils

Have an XLT and am struggling with which coils are recommended and most compatible with this detector. Here is an example I have a Whites Blue Max 800 with bf stamped on the coil ear. I hear the coil of choice is the Royal 800. Called Whites they say its the same coil Is it or isn't it? I would like to have information on which coils are the same with different names . How does coil ear stamping fit into the picture . I don't like to bother anyone with asking questions if the is information available.

The Royal Scan 800 is a little newer version of the Blue Max 800, the Royal's main difference is it has the newer larger dia. cable, but as I understand it the rest of the coil's construction is the same.
