Old Church-Small Silver

Got permission to hunt an old Church and school with about 130 yards in between them.
Hadn't been there 30 minutes and found the Half Dime 1861.
The Church dates back before the civil war 1837,The preacher pulled in and some other guys
that were going to do some roof repair as it was damaged mildly in last nights storm.
The preacher said he had the papers that showed the land was deeded to the church and school
back that far.
Then another guy pulls in with a Mower, getting ready to mow all the grass,so i just thanked the preacher again and said
I would be back tomorrow or the next day.
I was fighting the high grass anyway, but i had three other places to go on the GPS,so off i went.
Two were old schools, that were both gone, the last another old church.
I got to it and there was a house right against the old church, and i'm pretty sure they were living in the church too.
Thats the way it goes,if i have four places,i usually get to hunt one,two if i'm lucky.
I was hoping the big piece of metal was a trigger guard, but no such luck this time.
Found a rimfire cartridge i am not sure what is.
Bigger than a 22,or 22 mag,and short,about a half inch long,and has a U on the Rim.
The dime is very worn, and not worth much,But i like it.

Way to go buddy, that's a great find no matter what shape; I haven't seen one of those come out around here in a long time, Looks as if the E-Trac is working well for you! Take care..

Way to go Harold ! Ground wet enough for you:poke: We may have to do that hunt we planned without Dr.Bob as he will be to busy for a while.

A big congratulations on that coin!! I appreciate you posting the pictures. I'd be thrilled with that find...the only time I find a seated is when I SIT the mercury or barber down and locate it later.

Nice hunt Bob, sounds like you have a lot of hunting to do at that site. A half dime is on my list of "things I'd like to find". What numbers does a half dime give, how deep was it, and was it a good signal? Good luck to ya on the next return trip. Ken-ks

I think it was 10-30 11-32 11-30 and it was about four inches in trashy highly mineralised soil.
Signal was good, not great ,but clear, due to other trash, and how thin the dime was.Jumping around a lot.
But i was getting dig me numbers in there.
I thought it was gonna be an indian head,i was surprised.
