Old cap gun.

Hey fellows. I found this old cap gun today and I was wondering if any of you might know the approximate age? I looked on the internet, but couldn't find anything that looked close to what I found. Thanks for any information on it. HH.

Don't know how old it is but there is one in better condition on ebay here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mattel-TOY-Derringer-Cap-Gun-Box-Ammo-Set_W0QQitemZ310077883089QQcmdZViewItem

for over $169.99

So consider it a nice find.

Thanks Tony. Since it seems to be a Mattel cap gun then it can't be that old. I found it at an old 1940's housing project area and was hoping that it might be from the 40's. HH.

Don't know how old it is but it looks very old, probably 20's or earlier. That might earn you a few more points and you might just beat Lee for 1st Place this year. Go For It!!! Good Luck and HH!:detecting:

Thanks James. It's been a while since I found any kind of toys lately. I have some other stuff from my last three outings, but I will post them after our meeting this Wednesday.:clapping: Did you get your news letter? I see that Lee and I are tied now on points for the finds of the month.:starwars: This could get interesting. HH.

You better get out and do some detecting if you want 1st Place. Good Luck and HH to you.

Glad you got the news letter. One of the gals that was in our club moved to Nevada and she sent another member a picture of a nice ladies diamond ring that she found at lake Tahoe. I'll post my last three outings this Thursday.:clapping: HH buddy.

seem to remember that from when I was a kid.I had the Mattel rifle that shot the little plastic spring loaded bullet out. That was mid to late 50's.GR

Thanks GR. The one on E-Bay says it's a cap pistol that snaps into a belt buckle and it also looks like it shoots out bullets. I guess the caps fit on one end of the bullet and when you pull the trigger it shoots the bullet out. Probably doesn't go that far. I guess Mattel hasn't been in business that long and this gun probably only dates back to the first part of the 60's. I was hoping it was a little older, but a neat find just the same. HH.
