Old button.....?

Just found this old button this evening about 6" down in a very old area. Im not sure what to make of it, looks military, its brass and in great shape. No markings on the back, sorry I forgot to put a coin next to it for scale though its the same size as a quarter.
Any info appreciated.

Besides yours not having a backmark, it looks like the same as in this picture off of feebay.




Should be around the same dates 1860 - 1880
