old button

Hey, it's an Infantry button from around the Civil War period. The back mark can give you more info, as well as if it is a two piece button (which is what I assumed it is) or a one piece button (would be older then). Size of the button would help also. Nice find. Careful with them, they are fragile and can crush easily while cleaning. Hope this helps you.

thanks for the reply, it is a two piece button and the size of a nickel. i cleaned it with soap and water. so it would be from the 1860's then. a Yankee button
