Old Button Find on First Outing with the New Minelab X-Terra 50

The UPS guy brought my new X-Terra 50 Wednesday afternoon but I had to wait until this morning for the first hunt since it's always dark when I get home from work in the evening.

I went to an old farmsite up the street this morning. I dug what appears to be a super nice Civil War era large button that locked on 30 at about 5 inches. It says SCOVILL MFG CO WATERBURY on the back. Any ID help would be appreciated from the experts. Thank you...HH

in my Alberts button book, you might have a "Civil Air Patrol" button. On page 287 found your button, only exception is the book shows a propeller instead of an eagle on shield. Nice find buddy! :)

Over in the Classifieds Forum on Treasure Depot, there's a photo of an ROTC pin with the same design on it. Maybe you found an ROTC uniform button?
