Old button...but how old?

I found this button in an area that has been in use since the early 1700's. It is definitely brass and rung up as a penny on my detector. I'm posting both sides so someone out there who is an expert in buttons can see how this thing is put together. For all I know it's only 30 years old!

It does look a lot like it but this was found in Southeast PA, near Philadelphia. I'm thinking unlikely (although not impossible).

i've found lot's of out of place items, makes you think how did that get here..nice find either way, congrats

Thank you to all to helped me with this. I was in contact with an expert appraiser in Virginia who was recommended by someone at the Petersburg National Battlefield. He confirmed what you all had been telling me. It is a button of local manufacture produced during the war (which explains the lack of a hallmark on the back). The estimated value is $125. This is now my most valuable find to date.
