Old buckle?

Dighistory

New member
Found this item in an area that also produced 1880s coins and nearby area was established around 1785. Find depth was about 7 inches, but I've also found a V-Nickel at only 1 inch in the same vicinity.

Yep.. That's a buckle and a nice one too.

Any ideas on what the buckle would be? Seems thin for anything heavy like a belt or shoe... Can it be dated from the way it is formed?

Being a light pressed brass I would have to agree that it is most likely a scarf or sash buckle.
