Old Buckle

Was wondering if anybody could give me some info on this old buckle. Was found at a very old site back in the woods. Site dates back to the 1700s. How old do you think it is and what type of buckle is it? A shoe buckle maybe? Any help would be great. Thanks, Joe.

That is one sweet looking buckle! Because of the ornate design, I wonder if it could be a saddle buckle...

That is a NICE find! As ornate as it is, if it's thin, my guess would be its a woman's belt buckle that would have been used with a cloth belt.

It is thin. I think it might be a ladies dress buckle. Seems to make the most sense. Thanks everyone for your input, Joe.
