Old brass button, prior 1830

Found 2 weeks or so back, on a local beach. Approx. 11/16ths in dia., thin simple design, 1 pc. only. I was able to read a company name on the face, turns out there was a different company name, on the backside. Now, this has aroused my curiosity; I got on Wiki to do some research. The names noted did not quite jibe with the button names.

I e-mailed the UK to an address given via Wiki. On a Sunday yet, I received a reply within 2 hours, from someone at the latest company merger name; asking if I had a pic or two. I finally got a couple shots, as good as I could get, and sent them off. I goofed in first message, only with the photos, did I include the name on the back, which turned out to be the key and oldest name by far. The button was apparently made between 1780 and 1830 ; the Firman name, pre-dates even the venerable Hudsons Bay Co. !!! Actual company names on the button noted below.

Front .... THRESHER & Co. 152 STRAND
Back .... FIRMAN & SONS Ltd. LONDON

Beats me, how it survived a salt beach for umpteen years, and an ID could be made without cleaning ! Their last reply quoted below. Going to try to add a pic.

" Interestingly enough Firmin are button manufacturers (they still exist today) and for a period were Thresher and Glenny
