Old bounty hunter outlaw

Hi, Recently picked up an old (blue) Bounty Hunter Outlaw like the one I used to have many years ago. Does anyone know if and where I can pick up the schematics for one? Would the company release them after so many years? Any help would be appreciated in finding an old schematics on White's eagle spectrum too! Thanks.

I have found that companies guard the schematics for thier detectors like fort knox guards gold...I wish you luck...

Hey Bottlebum, The Outlaw I bought was on E bay and the guy lied through his teeth. Some functions do not work and one of the coils has a crack in it. The reason I wanted a schematic, was to see if an electronic engineer could capitalize on the fact that the machine discriminated on the basis of ferrous (iron) and non ferrous. This to me is a better concept than notch discriminating. Where I hunt, I want ALL the non iron targets and I don't care about identifying them first. I was hoping to get an old Outlaw and have someone re-engineer it for better depth. I'm in western Mass, and here depth is key!! I wanted to locate some privies up here for some bottles too! Asking a question about an old Bounty Hunter Outlaw DE 280.

I have a circa 1980s Bounty Hunter that was never used and once owned by my grandfather. I am giving it to my daughter (10) who is really into treasure hunting and rock hounding.

My question is, I have the manual but it doesn't say much about two knobs, Disc level which goes 1-10 and Ground Adjustment no numbers.

Does anyone know what they are and how to adjust them?

Hi Van

I suppose that the detector is a no motion, VLF or TR one.

In that case the discrimination and ground balance knobs should be adjusted while depressing the retune button at the same time, so as to put your settings into the detector's memory.

As for what concerns the ground balance, you should "pump" with tour detector, as very well described in the Tracker II manual.

Did you find the schematics for the DE280?
I have an old one that I need to fix, and would love to have the schematics, OR, another one like it.
I have an 8 inch, and a 12 inch coil for it, that's why I would like to fix it

I found my old manual. The two knobs are used when you use discrimination mode.
