I was given this Bounty Hunter Maverick for free and was wondering where i might find info on it's age and value (new and current?).

The Bedrock Museum of Science and Industry. That is the model that Fred and Barney used to look for Wilma's lost wedding ring. :surprised:

LOL... I know, right... I have two newer Whites, but a friend who moved over the weekend gave this to me because they knew I coin hunt... I haven't opened it yet, but it's very light so I'm guessing it was stored without batteries (which is a good start).

I have a 1976 BH catalog on my site, from way back when PNI (Pacific Northwest Instruments) owned the Bounty Hunter name. The Maverick was a simple BFO detector and an economy model at that, so expect no frills and simple performance. They can still have some utility today as a meteorite testing device, not so much for finding them, but for air-testing the odd-looking rock you might spot with your eyes.

Interesting as a "toy" and maybe to a BH collector, but you ain't gonna retire on the money from selling it. OTOH, it was kept all these years and some people do still like a good old-fashioned BFO for certains tasks. Don't dumpster it, pass it on to somebody or try it out, you might like doin' it the old fashioned way!

And it's got a lifetime warranty! You can't go wrong! (Good luck with that at FTP, askj for Dave and tell him I sent ya!)

Thanks! No warrantee work needed yet. I put a fresh battery in it last night and it works fine.

I appreciate the post and links! I was really trying to establish the age of it and collect info about what it is, not so much make a profit. It's going on a shelf, with the brochures printed and placed behind it.

"Space age circuitry...." o_O *scratches "become an astronaut" off my to do list...
