Gidday all. Went scuba diving last Saturday underneith an old pier, looking for bottles and was rewarded with an old green glass torpedo just out from the pier in about 5 metres depth. It was lodged in the sand, the blob top showing. Made my day. The glass is embossed with a hand with winds, holding up a bottle and the bubbles streaming from the top. In the bubbles read the words: "Health Purity". The other side display's the words "Tho s Trood & Sons, Melbourne". The bottle still has it's original stopper inside it. I would say the bottle dates into the 1800's. I've yet to find out more about it.
There was a strong surge under the pier and it was fun just floating around in mid water, moving to and fro among the kelp! Just hard to stay put in one spot while fanning the sand! Hope you like the pics.
