Old Barn in the Texas Hill Country..............

Kelley (Texas)

New member
I spotted this old barn while exploring some backroads about thirty miles North of San Antonio. As I was approaching the barn to take some close-up pictures, I came to a sudden halt when I heard the familiar sound of a rattlesnake in the weeds somewhere close to me. The weeds were dense and not being able to spot the snake, I slowly backed out of the immediate area. I was dissapointed in not getting any close-up pictures of the old barn, but the risk of being bitten by a rattlesnake was just too much. Kelley (Texas) :)

This picture was taken using a Sony A300 DSLR with a vintage (1985) Minolta 28-85mm F3.5/4.5 lens. Settings: F7.1, 1/320 sec., and ISO 100.

Here in Massachusetts, we don't have that problem, Most of our old barns are made of wood, not corrugated metal. Still would like to venture inside that barn and check it out for goodies!
Do you use a tripod with that camera?

I will often use one, just depends on what shutter speed that I am using or the type of picture being shot. When in doubt, I will always use a tripod if possible. I consider a tripod to be one of the best aids in taking a good picture. Kelley (Texas) :)
