Has anyone done some side by side comparisons for depth between the excel and the C$?... I know they use similar innards but I would think the C$ would retain the depth crown...

Thanks

It is a different frequency & all, & for half the price I would say it has to be a little less. Otherwise there would be no way to justify spending all that cash on a C$ if it didn't get a little deeper. Kinda like buying a new car. You can spend more & get all the "options" like leather, etc.....so, the C$ is loaded to the hilt with all kinds of useful "extras". Auto tracking, separate threshold, notching & salt mode to name a few.....
But even if the Excel is a tad less-powerful, in some way's that can be looked at as a good thing. Now before someone say's I'm crazy :stars: here's a couple reasons why I'd say that.
1. The Excel is less chattery. The way the disc is set up to not go up to +51...those pesky blips from hot rocks are completely eliminated
2. With a tad less power and the ability to turn that disc down to -36 & hunt with 4 tones + less numbers flying in, it may be that the little "fireball" :hot: is better in thick trash?
Now I'm not trying to steer anyone away from a C$. The C$ is still my favorite Fisher & it's nice to have all those options. But, this stuff just says once again that this is the best bang for the buck out there right now :hot:

I agree 100% with Bill's evaluations. That's why I have both. :)

I haven't compared it on undug targets with the C$ yet, but I will eventually. One thing for sure, it will find stuff in iron just like the guys with the Explorers and DD coils post once in a while.

<center>19-20 bounce when swinging the coil just right. All metal showed 4-5 iron hits within a few inches. I thought the nail was the culprit cause it came out of the plug first. :heh:

There is a noticeable difference in depth when push comes to shove in favor of the Coinstrike.

They do not share similar innards. Not unless they just changed them, at least the one
