I am heading for North Carolina today. RATS. Gull Island in Lake St. Clair has it annual Jobbie Nooner tomorrow. For those that have never heard of it. Its an island that has boats, PARTIAL baithing suits and booze. They are expecting TEN THOUSAND people at that island tomorrow!!! If you have 4 people on a boat that is 2500 boats!!! You can Google it and see pictures of the MADHOUSE!!

Will be back from North Carolina on Monday. Whoever goes out there, Leave a little bling for me please!!!!

Everyone have a safe and wonderful weekend!!!

Well, I guess I'll have some company next week. :detecting: :surrender:

Scuba, I think you are greatly underestimating the effect a few online posts can have on a location. Telling a few people in person is one thing, but you're literally giving away these spots to thousands if not 10's of thousands of people by posting them online (They are on here forever). Obviously you're free to do it, but which do you like best finding gold or finding scoop marks? confused:

I wanna go detecting there on Monday!
I'm a life long Michigander, born in Detroit and raised up north, so I know all about the boat parties.

John

We had an island that was a local party hangout, the people and 'suck and go' boats showed up by the hundreds every weekend, and when the local surf shop used to haul generators out there for lights and live music on holiday weekends, it would be thousands...got so crazy.....It was made a protected bird sanctuary by the state,no more party's....I'm sure any long time Michigander MDer with a boat looks forward to the big event..Good luck..

Well I for one appreciate the info. SD. Although I live in Michigan, I will not be packing up and heading to Lake St. Clair to crowd ya on a hunt ZOF. so no worries. Honestly, I doubt people will be making a last minute run to Michigan to water hunt... Besides, anyone who you may deem "competition" more than likely lives in the general area and already knows of said event. That being said, best of luck and don't forget to post your finds, just leave out where ya found them, we won't tell....:lmfao:

Well, nobody can get it all and areas that big are just way too big and NOT a secret. I know of a couple in a pontoon boat and I know of another boat that if I remember right is a blue striped SeaRay. Nobody talks like if you don't talk to another detectorist, they will think your not finding anything and leave??

The couple in the pontoon I know BUT WHY be secretive when we are all hunting together?? Sorry if I stepped on any toes but you can't fit thousands of boats in a small place that will get hunted out by even 20 people.

Zofchak, you probably know exactly who I am talking about. LOL maybe its you!!! If you see a Four Winn's Candia, maroon and a person diving with a red inner tube float with a white stripe any tine out there, come say hello and talk, unless your so pissed at me your ready to drop depth charges.

I know of 6 others that go there but at least we all talk and share our finds.

Its a great hobby and I believe in spots like that there is room for everybody who wants to try their luck. Underneath a couple of my docks, well that's a different story.

Have a great weekend all, made it to Charlotte NC, will be flying back Monday

Scuba, No hard feelings and I'm not mad about it I'm just concerned. When it comes to duck hunting locations, mushroom spots and and metal detecting areas I learned the hard way that the reach of the internet can quickly turn a good thing sour.

I'll most likely be out there Monday and possibly Tuesday depending on my schedule. I'll be in the army green Polar Kraft duck boat and mostly wading, but I may bring along the hookah as well and in that case I'll be the bald guy swimming under the tan kayak. If I see you I'll stop by and say hi (I promise no depth charges )

For anyone else thinking about going, make sure and bring a couple garbage bags. The place is almost always a disaster after Jobbie Nooner and filling a couple bags with empty beer cans and other garbage is not very difficult.

By gosh, I just might tow the boat over there to watch you two reprobates! And maybe toss in the can of junk rings I've got so you have something to dig! It sure looks like quite a party..! Youth is wasted on the young!
Mud

at a dime apeice you can make hundreds of dollars just in cans out there:rofl:and help clean up some of the junk as well
