Ok you Beach NUTS: Your thoughts on a Travel Scoop

I have the RTG 5' travel scoop (not enough bite) and the 6in' scoop (holes are way too large)... but, here is the question. I have seen scoops on youtube videos where some guys like gravediggermax and others use. these scoops are wider, and the holes are a lot smaller than the ones I have. I'm wanting to buy one of those scoops, but.... the problem I'm facing is the handle. how can a person make one or where can he buy one that he can put in a suit case than can break down or telescope down.

A heavy duty Shovel handle wont work, I need an handle than can still support that scoop.. will a light weight handle do the trick, Thought's?

I'll be using this Scoop in Mexico

Thank You, Dirt Diga..aka looknforgold

I bought my handle for my scoop (sunspot stealth) at a hardware store but I have no idea what hdwe stores in other countries carry. If they don't have what you want, you could always carve down an appropriate piece of local wood yourself (assuming you take all the connective bolts/etc with you).

When driving to the beach I use a stainless scoop with the small holes, like or similar to the one gravediggermax shows in some of the videos. When I fly, I use the 6 inch diameter RTG travel scoop and live with the big holes. It fits in the suitcase!

Might be able to make a handle similar to the RTG handle that comes apart in the middle and bolts up to the stainless scoop with small holes like it's wood handle does. Would need fairly thick walled tubing like the RTG travel handle.
Cheers,

I know.... I have that 6in travel scoop, those holes are way too big. I ws thinking getting a savrscoop, and making a modified 2 pc Alum handle, like the RTG 6 inch. should work maybe, I just hope the scoop wont be too heavy for the handle

The Sun-Spot Stealth has a travel handle available. I have one but had to call the factory. Works very well and no problems at the airport. I also use the RTG's. Check at your local hardware and look at aluminum gutter mesh. It cuts easily and will catch the ear rings and other small stuff. RTG will make you a scoop any way you want it for a very small charge. Just a little food for thought. HH :minelab:
