I have been hitting the beaches hard for the last 3 months. I have used everything I know to get results and I have hit silver toe rings, earrings and change (and I always have a good time) but this has been the slowest summer I have ever had. Tell me. People who hunt the beaches in Southern NJ how are you you doing? The large amount of sand deposited on the beaches here seem to be real culprit not the economy. I have reserved areas I use in winter but I wanted to save them but it looks like I will be tapping those areas (I need a fix) if things don't improve on these beaches. Calling this a dry spell for me at this point would be an understatement. How are you all doing?

Maybe you have been hunting the wrong beaches :) It's been slow but it hasn't been that bad. You are right about all the excess sand build up in some towns but Bill may take care of some of that in a week or so. I haven't been to the beach near as often as I usually do because of all the rain this Summer.......especially on the weeks when the Tides were right but, I have been doing pretty well when I have gone down. I did have to expand my horizons a bit as the beaches that I usually hunt were getting hit pretty hard so I started hunting a few places that I haven't hunted in years. Seems I have managed to find a few beaches that detectorists have forgotten about as I haven't seen hardly any other TH'ers since I changed beaches this Summer :) Sometimes you just have to think outside the box ;) The past few days have been very good! I am sure there is plenty of good stuff under all the new sand as well and that this should be a very good Winter detecting season if we get some good NorEasters.

You have a point about the amount of sand that has been brought in this summer.....the offshore winds have been pretty predominent this summer and that has brought in alot of really loose soft sand....The crowds have been here albeit late because of the lousy wet weather in June.....I see plenty of crowds especially this month so far and the folks are still wearing alot of jewelry....it's definitely being lost.....I think that you just have to find the beaches that are being heavily traveled and facing the direction that the predominate winds are affecting the sand levels with sand movement.....Hey ratpack.....Check out my Facebook group....The Jersey Shore beach and surf hunters.....
